FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What does Profhilo do for your skin?

Profhilo doesn’t augment facial features as dermal fillers do, but instead it improves the quality of your skin through hydration, tone, texture, and lifting. It is suitable for thinning, ageing, dull, dehydrated, and tired skin as it improves your overall skin’s laxity and bounce. It can treat both the face and the neck.

Is this treatment safe?

Because Profhilo is made almost entirely of hyaluronic acid, it is entirely safe for use within the skin. Hyaluronic acid (HA) is a naturally occurring skin compound, meaning your skin will not reject the Profhilo.

How many treatments will I need?

A course of two treatments with a month between them is recommended to ensure your optimum results. This is because Profhilo stimulates the production of fresh collagen and elastin over the proceeding weeks.

When will I see my results?

Your full treatment benefits will be realised after your full course of two treatments is completed. You could notice your results after your first treatment at 4 weeks, but your full results will be reached after around 2 months.

How long will my results last?

Results duration may vary between individuals, but typically your results will last for up to 5 months. After this time, you will need repeat treatments in order to maintain them.

Advanced Facial Dermal Filler

FACIAL CONTOURING, VOLUME, AND STRUCTURE

Dermal fillers are injected into the skin to replace volume and smooth out unwanted lines. As we age, our skin loses its elasticity and volume which creates lines and wrinkles. Genetics, gravity and external factors such as smoking all exacerbate this process. Hyaluronic acid (HA) keeps the skin full and elastic. As we age, levels of HA decrease and the skin loses fat. HA binds to water, meaning dermal fillers can be an excellent way to hydrate your skin. We can treat nasolabial lines, marionette lines, peri-oral (smoker’s) lines, cheeks, jawline, lips, and chin.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Where do dermal fillers treat?

Dermal fillers are used to create volume, structure, and contour in areas of the face. Lip fillers are popular for defining the lips, and cheek fillers for accentuating the cheekbone or replacing lost volume. They can also be used to add structure to the jawline and chin in order to add dimension to your facial profile. For those seeking subtle rejuvenation, they can be placed in areas around the mouth and cheeks to treat sagging skin and volume loss due to the ageing process.

Are dermal fillers safe?

Dermal fillers are safe for use within the skin and body because they contain hyaluronic acid, a natural skin compound. This means your skin will accept them after some minor side effects. They are at their safest when performed by qualified medical professionals, so you should always seek and Independent Nurse Prescriber like Georgina.

When will I see my results?

You will notice your results immediately, though your optimum results will be achieved after your minor side effects have settled down over the following

3-5 days.

How long will my results last?

Results will vary between individuals depending on how each individual processes the filler, but you could enjoy your results for 6-12 months, after which time you will require another treatment to maintain them.

Do dermal fillers hurt?

A topical numbing cream is applied before your treatment to minimise any discomfort felt. You may still feel a pinch once we begin injecting, but this is likened to discomfort rather than pain.

Are dermal fillers permanent?

No, dermal fillers are not permanent. Because they use the naturally occurring skin compound hyaluronic acid, they are broken down by your body over time just like your natural reserves of HA are. This process will happen with no complaint from your system, and you will only notice it through your treated area returning to its original form.

Dermaplaning

Dermaplaning

TRANSFORM YOUR SKIN

Dermaplaning is a safe, non-invasive exfoliating treatment which removes serveral layers of dead skin cells. Dermaplaning can be had as a stand-alone treatment, or along with other skincare treatments to achieve even better results. The results are immediate with no downtime. Dermaplaning uses a sterile medical blade to gently scrape away the superficial layers of dead skin cells. The benefits are much smoother skin - makeup will go on like never before and look flawless; removal of soft facial hair that traps dirt and oil, in turn, promoting better skin health. Skincare products or other treatments are more effective as products are able to penetrate the skin more deeply.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Is the treatment safe?
This treatment is extremely safe when performed by an properly trained skincare professional. There is no more risk to the skin than when you shave your legs. There is also no downtime associated with this procedure.

Does it hurt? Will it cause cuts?
Dermaplaning is effective by performing a gentle scraping motion across the skin’s surface. With hair removal such as waxing and threading, most people have the idea that all hair removal is painful, but Dermaplaning is entirely painless. There are risks of cuts on the skin, however they are small and very minor as the pressure used for Dermaplaning cannot cause a deep cut. These nicks and scrapes  heal within 24-48 hours.

Will it make the hair on my face grow back thicker and darker?
No. There are different types of hair that grow on the body; vellus hair and terminal hair. Vellus hair is found on most areas of the body except palms, soles, lips and genital areas, whereas terminal hairs are found on the scalp, underarms and pubic region. The soft and fine vellus hair grows back at the same rate and texture.

What is the benefit of adding a chemical peel with Dermaplaning?
Hyperkeratosis is a build up of dead skin cells on the skin’s surface. By removing this initial layer, a chemical peel is able to penetrate deeper into the dermis resulting in a more effective treatment. The conjunction of dermaplaning and a chemical peel leaves the skin refreshed and rejuvenated. Together they promote new skin growth and target problems such as aging, sun spots and environmental damage.

How long is the treatment? How often can I have it done?
Dermaplaning takes anywhere between 30-45 minutes and can be performed every 3-4 weeks. The treatment itself removes approximately 21 days worth of dead skin so it is important to let your skin rejuvenate before your next appointment.

What is the difference between dermaplaning and microdermabrasion?
Both options are a form of physical exfoliation. Dermaplaning removes vellus hair (peach fuzz) and dead skin cells from the skin, microdermabrasion also exfoliate the surface of the skin, but not as thoroughly or deeply as dermaplaning does.

SKIN PEELS

Skin peels harness the power of naturally occurring acids and active ingredients to deeply exfoliate and brighten the skin. The treatment stimulates new cell growth and collagen production, helping to reveal fresher, clearer, brighter skin.

There are various types of chemical peels available, each penetrate skin at different levels of the epidermis. Resurfacers or superficial peels work on the very top layers of the epidermis and use enzymes and acids to refine and exfoliate. Skin peels or medium peels are stronger and work deeper to combat more specific skin complaints.

Skin peels work by exfoliating the outer layers of skin, removing dead cells and revealing fresh new cells underneath. It is a much deeper exfoliation than that of typical exfoliating creams and also help to stimulate the body’s own natural collagen production and can improve elasticity. Removing the outer layers of dead skin with a chemical preparation, allows new skin cells to come through revealing a dramatically smoother and brighter complexion with fewer imperfections. Naturally derived acids loosen the glue-like attachments or cellular cement that is characteristic of many skin conditions such as ageing, acne, skin discolouration and coarse texture.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

How does the treatment work?

The chemical solution that is applied to the skin causes the layer of skin to separate and peel off. The new regenerated skin underneath is usually smoother, less wrinkled and more even in both tone and colour than the old skin.

How long does the treatment take and how many sessions will I require?

Typically the skin is first thoroughly cleansed and then the practitioner will carefully apply the solution. A full face peel usually takes no more than 15 minutes. Depending on which chemical peel is recommended for you it may vary from a one-off peel to a course of 4 peels with one each week or fortnight. Sometimes two or more courses of peels may be needed to obtain the desired result and may be spaced out over several months.

How is the treatment administered?

The procedure involves a chemical solution that is applied to the skin. The solution causes the layer of skin to separate and peel off. The new regenerated skin underneath is usually smoother, less wrinkled and more even in both tone and colour than the old skin.

Is the treatment painful?

Anaesthesia is not required for Chemical Peels and you may feel slight stinging sensation as the peel solution is applied to the skin, but the feeling will quickly pass.

Are there any possible side effects?

All products have a potential for allergic reactions. It is important that the patient informs the practitioner of any allergies they may have.

Transient reactions may include redness to the skin, itchiness, dryness and in some cases swelling. It is common for most patients to experience transient hyper-pigmentation. This will settle during the course of treatments and with use of the appropriate treatment creams and sun protection (SPF50) Although very rare, there may be in some cases risk of blistering.
